ܪܰܒ ܗ̱ܽܘ̣ ܘܰܫܒܺܝܚ ܐܰܓܽܘܢܶܗ ܕܨܰܘܡܳܐ ܕܰܐܪ̈ܒܥܺܝܢ

عظيمٌ هو ومجيدٌ جهادُ صومِ الأربعينGreat is the glory of the Lent of FortyGrand est le glorieux combat du jeûne des QuaranteRabou wa’shbih agouneh d’sawmo da’rb’in

ܕܒܶܗ ܡ݀ܶܫܬܰܦܰܠ ܣܳܛܳܢܳܐ ܘܟܽܠܶܗ ܚܰܝܠܶܗ

إذ به يُذلَّلُ الشيطانُ وكلُّ قوّتِهِFor by it, Satan is vanquished and all his powerCar par lui, Satan est vaincu et toute sa puissanceD’beh meshtapal sotono w’kouleh hayleh

ܥܺܕܰܬ ܩܽܘܕܫܳܐ ܗܳܐ ܨܳܝ̇ܡܳܐ ܕܰܒܨܰܘܡܳܐ ܬܫ̣ܰܘܙܶܒܝ ܝܰܠܕܶܝ̈ܗ̇

ها إنَّ البيعةَ المقدّسةَ تصومُ لكيما بالصومِ تُنقذَ أولادَهاIndeed, the Holy Church fasts that by fasting she may save her children

هلمُّوا يا إخوتي نصُمْ صومًا مملوءًا حكمةCome, my brothers, let us fast a fast filled with wisdomVenez, mes frères, jeûnons un jeûne rempli de sagesseTaw ahay nesoum sawmo da’mlé fourshono

ܕܒܶܗ ܡ݀ܶܬܪܰܥܶܐ ܐܰܠܳܗܳܐ ܘܥܳ݀ܒܶܕ ܥܠܰܝܢ ܪ̈ܰܚܡܶܐ

دْبِهْ مِتْرَعِا أَلُهُا وْعُبِدْ عْلَيْنْ رَحْمِاWhereby God is pleased and grants us mercyPar lequel Dieu est satisfait et nous accorde sa miséricordeD’beh metra’é Aloho w’obed ’alayn rahmé

ܐܰܟܡܳܐ ܕܨܳܡ̣ܘ ܗ̱ܘ̣ܰܘ ܢܺܝ̈ܢܘܳܝܶܐ ܘܶܐܬܪܰܥ̣ܺܝ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܐܰܠܳܗܳܐ

مثلما صامَ أهلُ نينوى ورضِيَ اللهُ عليهمJust as the people of Nineveh fasted and God was pleased with themTout comme les habitants de Ninive ont jeûné et Dieu était satisfait d’euxAkmo d’somou waw ninwoyé wetra’i lhoun Aloho

ܪܰܒ ܗ̱ܽܘ̣ ܨܰܘܡܳܐ ܕܰܚܠܺܝܛ ܒܶܗ ܚܽܘܒܳܐ ܕܰܟܝܳܐ

عظيمٌ هو الصومُ الممزوجةُ به المحبّةُ الطاهرةGreat is the fast mixed with pure loveGrand est le jeûne mélangé à l’amour purRabou sawmo da’hlit beh houbo dakhyo

ܘܰܡܝܰܬܪܳܐ ܨܠܽܘܬܳܐ ܕܟܺܝܬܳܐ ܥܰܡ ܙܶܕܩ̈ܳܬܳܐ

والأفضلُ منه هو الصلاةُ النقيّةُ مع الصَدَقاتAnd even better is the pure prayer with almsgivingEt encore mieux est la prière pure avec l’aumôneWa’myatro slouto dkhito ’am zedqoto

ܛܽܘܒ ܠܰܐܝܢܳܐ ܕܫܰܡ̣ܠܺܝ ܘܰܥܒ̣ܰܕ ܦܽܘ̈ܩܕܳܢܶܐ ܐܰܝܟ ܢܳܡܽܘܣܳܐ

طُوْبْ لَايْنُا دْشَمْلِيْ وَعْبَدْ فُوْقْدُنِا أَخْ نُمُوْسُاBlessed are those who hear and keep the commandments, as in the lawHeureux ceux qui écoutent et gardent les commandements, comme dans la loiToub la’yno d’shamli wa’bad fouqdoné ayk nomouso
