أظلَمَتِ الشمسُ وصارَتِ الأرضُ في رَوْعٍ عظيمThe sun darkened, and the earth was in great aweLe soleil s’obscurcit, et la terre fut dans une grande frayeurHshekh wo shemsho wahwot ar’o b’zaw’o rabo

ܣܶܡܟܰܬ̣݀ ܪܺܝܫܳܗ̇ ܥܰܠ ܗܰܘ̇ ܩܰܝܣܳܐ ܕܰܙܩܺܝܦܽܘܬܳܐ

أتكأَتْ مريمُ رأسَهَا على خشبَةِ الصليبMary rested her head on the wood of the crossMarie reposa sa tête sur le bois de la croixSemkat risho ’al haw qayso dazqifouto

ܘܰܬܚܶܝܬ ܪ̈ܶܓܠܰܘܗ̱ܝ ܡܰܪܺܝܪܳܐܝܺܬ ܐܶܬܬܢܺܝܚܰܬ̣݀ ܗ̱ܘܳܬ̣݀

لعلَّني أسمَعُ ما هي تلكَ الكلماتُ الّتي فاهَتْ بهاPerhaps I might hear the words she utteredPeut-être pourrais-je entendre les mots qu’elle a prononcésAykh deshma’ wit moun itayhoun qolé d’le’zat

ܢܶܗܘ̣ܶܐ ܙܩܺܝܦܳܟ ܫܽܘܪܳܐ ܪܳܡܳܐ ܠܥܰܡ̱ܡ̈ܶܐ ܕܗܰܝ̣ܡܶܢܘ
